CLIENT: Guernsey Technical
DATE: Summer 2025
Having provided ongoing regular maintenance at the site since 2003, it was time to refresh the control systems at this site. Phoenix was happy to be appointed as M&E main contractor for this project.

Mont Cuet 2025 Control Room is looking almost empty, but is now fully equipped to modern standards with data acquisition control systems that require a lot less space.
SCOPE:
With the original MCC being well over 30 years old, it was decided to replace this with new starter panels situated close to the various plant locations, as well as a new compact PLC control panel in the control room. Of the original MCC, only the end [anel (see image) was retained for distribution and other necessary functions; the vast majority of the existing circuitry was removed for disposal.
A new, modern PLC system with Remote I/O was included as part of the upgrade, allowing us to retire the old system, which was becoming unreliable, and parts were no longer readily available due to the age of the system.
All panels were built in-house before being shipped to Guernsey at the start of the installation phase of the contract.
The ageing flow meters were updated with modern, more advanced units. These units communicate digitally with the PLC, which now provides far greater data accuracy to the PLC and SCADA.
The plant was kept running as much as possible whilst these works took place, working closely with the client to minimise impact on the process.
