Health and Safety

Phoenix Engineering places a high emphasis on staff and welfare

Health and safety, in all areas, is of great importance and Phoenix Engineering takes its responsibilities in this area very seriously.

Working to ISO 9001 policies and procedures ensures contracts are managed in a manner to satisfy client expectations. All specialist sub-contractors working with Phoenix Engineering are regularly assessed for competence and up-to-date insurances and qualifications.

Many systems are in place on our sites to ensure all are made aware of their responsibilities and company practises. All staff have access to a specialist safety advisor and larger contracts have independent safety inspections.

Phoenix Engineering regularly undertakes the Principal Contractor role on projects to construct new Leachate Treatment Plants. These projects include the design and construction of both the Civil and MEICA Engineering Works.

Ongoing staff training includes courses for Site Manager, Site Supervisor, Confined Space, Quarry Passport and Manual Handling. Training requirements are a continually reviewed subject.

Staff and sub-contractors partake in a detailed ‘site induction’ before being allowed on any site. Work areas are assigned by our Site Manager to ensure as little overlap of trades as is possible. ‘Tool-Box Talks’ are held to cover topics relevant at this time.

Our safety management certifications and procedures have been assessed and passed by Avetta, CHAS and SafeContractor and are available for inspection on our certificates page.
