The automated sodium hydroxide dosing system upgrade at Pilsworth Landfill LTP is complete and fully operational. Phoenix is now developing a safe means of decontamination and removal of the old dosing system and storage tanks. This work is planned to commence in two weeks and will be completed over a three to four week period.
Phoenix has begun treatability trials for Viridor Waste Management at its Beddington Landfill Site to look at management of hydrogen sulphide in various wastewater and leachate streams at the site.
Phoenix has again secured its Safecontractor Accreditation. This is the second year running that we have maintained this accreditation and is a credit to all of our staff and a clear indication of how important we consider management of Health and Safety to be.
Phoenix has been awarded the contract to design, build and install the new MEICA installations for the Shelford Leachate Treatment Plant. The refit will bring this plant into compliance with current regulations and have the benefit of commonality with many other Viridor plants installed by Phoenix. Phoenix will also undertake process commissioning.
Continuing with its international success in South Africa, Phoenix has secured the consultancy contract with Royal Haskoning in South Africa for consultancy advice on management and treatment of leachates from Roundhill Landfill Site. This includes setting up and commissioning of leachate treatability trials in South Africa.
We have just about settled in to our new offices at Phoenix House. Previously our office and fabrication unit were in separate locations. Construction of the new sodium hydroxide dosing plant reinforced concrete base at Pilsworth Leachate Treatment Plant is now complete. MEICA installation works has commenced and will continue until the end of February. Decontamination and removal of the existing decommissioned sodium hydroxide dosing system will commence mid-February.
Mechanical and Electrical installations at Hatfield Leachate Treatment Plant are well underway. Final parts of the Civil Engineering works will be completed by end February, while MEICA installation works continue through March and April.
Phoenix Engineering has been working in South Africa for two years now, where Process Director Howard Robinson has pioneered leachate treatment since sanctions were removed in 1992, and in 2004 was awarded the President's Award for services to waste management in Southern Africa.
