Ion exchange trials being undertaken for the Dimmer Landfill Leachate Treatment Plant are coming to an end. Trials will finish over the weekend. Laboratory results are expected back shortly thereafter.

Phoenix have started treatability trials on the leachate from Ling Hall Landfill. Our Process Scientist Tim Robinson (shown in the laboratory after setting up the trials) and our Process Director collected leachate from the site after Christmas. Phoenix has now completed construction and installation of all main infrastructure at the Westmill Landfill Leachate Treatment Plant. Electrical installation and mechanical pipe fitting is currently well underway. Commissioning of the plant is still planned for the end of January 2015.
Phoenix are pleased to announce their appointment by Viridor to undertake treatment trials on their Dimmer landfill site. The site has been given a revised discharge consent that requires some elements be reduced to levels never before achieved in leachate treatment. Phoenix have commenced trialling leachate from United Mines for SITA. Sample leachate was collected and the trial plant set up using the same "seed" sludge used for the Connon Bridge trials. The main process tanks at Westmill are now complete. Yesterday the pre-fabricated Control Building was delivered and installed, along with all the structural steel work, which was designed and fabricated by Phoenix at its workshop in Launceston.
With reinforced concrete bases poured the process tank walls can now start going up.
Westmill Leachate Treatment Plant reactor tank bases ready for concrete pour. Each tank is supported on driven steel piles. The project remains on programme for completion by the end of January 2015.
